Being a Master Naturalist:

Our vision is to establish a network of involved community members dedicated to addressing the environmental needs of our communities across the northern part of the state. All participants are expected to complete and participate in 13 weeks (minimum 58 hours) of lecture and field-based instruction, as well as complete 30 hours of volunteer hours within 12 months. At the end of the Fall coursework, participants will be placed into volunteer roles with partner organizations (SF Botanical Gardens, Audubon, or Santa Fe County). Participation in course work, weekly discussions, and volunteer placements is required. Individuals interested in passively attending lectures or webinars should look into other community opportunities, rather than the Master Naturalist program.
