A Haiku Workshop--THIS EVENT IS FULL!

September 11, 2021 - Santa Fe, NM

email stella.reed@audubon.org with 'haiku registration' in subject line. Give your name, phone, and number in party

Expect an introduction to this pithy Japanese form, with an emphasis on summer/autumn and observing the here and now. The heart of the workshop is a ginkgo—an individual haiku walk with time to explore, sit, absorb, and write. Emphasis will be on a contemporary local approach to haiku. We’ll share haiku and learn some tips on how to edit for brevity and intensity.

Facilitator Miriam Sagan created the haiku pathway at Santa Fe Community College with artist Christy Hengst. Campus also houses ten poetry posts of hers with changing text. She and a team tend to the Fairy Houses, recycled metal sculpture and poetry, on a walking trail at Santa Fe Skies RV Park. She loves haiku, and has been teaching it on zoom. She looks forward to being outside and live!
