Haiku Trail Opening

May 13, 2022 - Santa Fe, NM

The Randall Davey Audubon Center and Sanctuary is pleased to announce the opening of a Haiku Trail.

This permanent installation showcases 24 haiku by New Mexican poets. The work is site specific: written at the Center and placed in environments from the Pollinator Garden to the Acequia Trail. The visitor’s experience is enhanced by discovering the tiny poems placed in the landscape.

Each haiku is presented on a clay plaque created by artist Christy Hengst and curated by poets Stella Reed and Miriam Sagan. The haiku are in free syllabic count, for an informal welcoming tone.
